NFRW Board Meeting, Tea at the White House and
Legislative Day on the Hill

March 28 - 31, 2007
Washington, D.C.

4LEGISLATIVE DAY ON THE HILL - March 29, 2007

More than 215 Republican women
donned their "red coats" and "yellow ribbons" and visited the U.S. Capitol to meet with legislators, attend committee hearings and take capitol tours. They were briefed by dozens of Republican senators and representatives; met with Doro Bush Koch, sister of President George W. Bush; and, advocated for President Bush’s plan for victory in Iraq. During the photo session on the Capitol steps, they sang patriotic songs to show their support for U.S. troops serving overseas.

“Republican women went to Capitol Hill to make it clear: we support our President, and most of all, we support our troops,” NFRW President Beverly Davis said. “The NFRW strongly endorses the President’s call for troops to be fully funded, with no strings attached to commanders on the ground and no arbitrary deadlines for withdrawal.”

The day started at 7 a.m. on March 29 when over 215 NFRW women boarded buses at the hotel which took them to the famous Capitol Hill Club (National Republican Club of Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C.)

Millie had asked me to make a oral report on the NFRW meeting events at our April 28 Board meeting.  However, I thought that you would prefer some photo pages of the various events. Hopefully, this will be more interesting than a hurried two or three minute boring recap from a long winded old lady ;- )

Marietta Daily Journal Staff Writer

MARIETTA - Former Cobb Republican Party Chairman Anthony-Scott Hobbs said Wednesday he would not seek the chairmanship of Georgia's Republican Party.

Hobbs' move clears the way for longtime GOP activist Sue Everhart of east Cobb to run unopposed for a shot to succeed Alec Poitevint, whose term expires next year, and become the first woman to serve in the position.

Political Cartoons  - Tax Time 2007

TAX POEM

Tax his land, tax his wage,
Tax his bed in which he lays.
Tax his tractor, tax his mule,
Teach him taxes is the rule.
Tax his cow, tax his goat,
Tax his pants, tax his coat.
Tax his ties, tax his shirts,
Tax his work, tax his dirt.
Tax his chew, tax his smoke,
Teach him taxes are no joke.
Tax his car, tax his ass
Tax the roads he must pass.
Tax his tobacco, tax his drink,
Tax him if he tries to think.
Tax his booze, tax his beers,
If he cries, tax his tears.

Tax his bills, tax his gas,
Tax his notes, tax his cash.
Tax him good and let him know
That after taxes, he has no dough.
If he hollers, tax him more,
Tax him until he's good and sore.
Tax his coffin, tax his grave,
Tax the sod in which he lays.
Put these words upon his tomb,
"Taxes drove me to my doom!"
And when he's gone, we won't relax,
We'll still be after the inheritance TAX!
