SPEAKER:  Hans Trupp

TOPIC:  “The Fair Tax”

A strong advocate of The FairTax, Hans Trupp will explore how it works and what it will do for you and for America, as explained in The FairTax Book: Saying Goodbye to the Income Tax and the IRS.  This current best seller is authored by two Georgia men:  Neal Boortz, Atlanta’s popular syndicated talk-show host and Republican Congressman John Lindner of Duluth, the primary sponsor of The Fair Tax Act before Congress.

Hans Trupp earned his degree in industrial management from Clemson University in 1962, followed by seven years in the military as a Naval Aviator, logging more than 200 combat missions over Viet Nam in jets off of aircraft carriers, for which he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Founder and Chairman of Trupp-Hodnett Enterprises and The Management Company, Hans has been active in St. Simons real estate for more than 34 years.  His background as an investor and a broker gives him a unique perspective on the market as well as a clear understanding of the potential impact of the Fair Tax.

Men are invited to join us April 10th.

Questionnaire Responses

Many thanks to those of you who took the time to peruse the questionnaire and offer suggestions as well as sign up to serve on committees.  Most of you feel that our club should get involved in fundraising for good Republican candidates.  Keep in mind, however, that legally, we cannot publicly endorse any candidate until after the Primary election.  Some want to be more politically involved here at the local level.  Others want to know more about candidates and their position on the issues.

So far, Membership and Communications have the most sign-ups.  Other committees of interest include Publicity & Public Relations, Fundraising, Programs, Arrangements, Nominating and Literacy.  One member, who works, wrote that she would help wherever she can!

It is not too late to mail in your questionnaire or bring it with you to the next meeting.  The Board will consider your suggestions in its ongoing effort to make our club a vital and effective force in the community.

Remember, your friends are welcome to visit our club and look us over.  Do invite them, and we’ll make a point of meeting and warmly greeting our guests and new members.  If you need to save a seat for your guests, we suggest you come early and bring a name- tag with their name on it to put on your table so that they can sit with you.

Those who have email agreed to have their Scoop sent to them by email.  This will help our budget considerably.  Thanks to all of you.

Editor’s note:  If you have messages or news about any of our members to publish in our newsletter, please mail or email it by the end of the month to junealex@adelphia.net, and we’ll try to get it in.

Newsflash

The Executive Board is considering not sending newsletters to those who have not renewed their membership.  Have you paid annual dues of $30?  Please mail your check, payable to GIRWC, to Dale Pierson, 353 Major Wright Road, SSI, 31522.
