Family and Friends,

Thought you might enjoy seeing some pictures of Mackenzie Elise Hullett, born on December 16th at 12:30pm, weighing in at 8 pounds, 1 ounce and 20.5 inches long.  She has dark hair, blue eyes and is the spittin' image of her daddy! :) Madison Elizabeth has been a great big sister and loves helping mommy out!  These were taken at the hospital and although she is already four weeks old (can you believe it?), she still looks pretty much the same, just a little bit bigger. Enjoy.

Much love,

The Hulletts

CCRWC Raise Funds for Armor 4 Troops

Once again, the Cobb County Republican Women's Club raised money for the troops at their Annual Holiday Celebration held on December 1 at the Marietta Conference Center.  Last year, the club and guests raised over $1500 and 10000 long distance minutes which were sent to the USO to be distributed to the troops.  This year, they raised $2000 for Armor 4 Troops which will be sending 8 "kits" to the troops with items such as pants, shirts, protective eye wear and shoes.  One kit will be sent to a friend of Babe Byrne and one to Susan Roberts' "future" son-in-law, both of whom are stationed in Iraq at this time.  The other 6 will be sent to the 48th Brigade out of Georgia which has seen a tremendous loss of life and troops who are fighting hard on the front lines in Iraq.

The generosity of our club members and guests was fantastic and we thank everyone for their support of our troops who are fighting for democracy and freedom across the globe.

ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS

MONDAY, October 23, 2006
6:30P.M.
McDonald's Community Room

Please note different day this month for our meeting of Republican Women of Forsyth County -- and there is a great reason.  We have a special guest and want everyone to be there. So bring your spouses, friends, neighbors, elected officials; it is worth everyone in Forsyth County to be there

We have a very important announcement.  Lt. Colonel Wayne Mosley  will be our very special guest speaker.

Lt. Colonel Mosley is an orthopedic surgeon in Vidalia, Georgia and a member of the Army Reserves.  In 2003 he was deployed to Afghanistan in the global war on terror.  In 2004 he was redeployed to Afghanistan and Iraq.  Between 2003 and 2005 he has served in the following areas:

* Bagram, Afghanistan
* FOB Salerno, Afhanistan
* FOB Ripley, Afghanistan
* Kandahar, Afghanistan
* Mosul, Iraq
* Baghdad, Iraq

Those of us who attended the GFRW meeting in St Simons had the opportunity to hear Dr Mosley speak and we were thrilled when he agreed to speak to our group.  He is scheduled to return to Iraq at the end of November and he has an important message.

p.s. No need to bring food.  We will have coffee, drinks, cookies.

GREATER FAYETTE REPUBLICAN WOMEN'S CLUB

CHRISTMAS PARTY…..CHRISTMAS PARTY……..CHRISTMAS PARTY

The Greater Fayette Republican Women's Club would like to invite you to join us at our Christmas Party on Friday, December 16th at 6:30pm. Spouses and friends are welcome.  It will be held at the Woodgate Clubhouse at 124 Woodgate Circle in Fayetteville. Woodgate Subdivision  is located off Bradley Drive, which is just off GA Hwy 85 South.  Turn left on Bradley from the north and right on Bradley from the south.  Turn left into Woodgate Subdivision, then left on Woodgate Drive and left on Woodgate Circle.  The clubhouse is on the left.  Please bring a covered dish to share and a gift (under $10) for our "Silly Santa" gift exchange.  Each person who wishes to participate in "Silly Santa" should bring a gift to exchange.

We will be collecting donations for "Embracing Military Families", an organization that helps families at Fort Benning who have a parent deployed.  I have lists of clothing sizes and "wished-for" toys from six families.  Many of the older children want portable CD players (about $20).  Younger kids want Barbies, Transformers, Bratz and Dora stuff (don’t know what that is!), Legos and Knex building sets and infant and toddler toys.  Please call me if you want clothing sizes or have other questions.  Each of these six families have four to six children.   Please contribute to make someone else's Christmas brighter!

Greater Fayette Republican Women's Club

As Connie Hale leaves office after two years as president of the Greater Fayette Republican Women's Club, one accomplishment stands out above all else.  In September of 2004, our club decided to participate with the NFRW Barbara Bush Literacy Committee on the Dictionary Project.  We purchased several hundred dictionaries through the Dictionary Project.  Two or three of our members visited each of the 125 third grade classrooms and media centers in our eighteen public elementary schools,  talked about how the project got started and the importance of education, and presented the classroom/media center with a dictionary. The students and teachers were delighted with our presentation and with the gift.  We sold additional dictionaries to the teachers and staff and to the PTO's at many of the schools. The following was inserted in the front of each dictionary:

THE DICTIONARY PROJECT

This dictionary is being donated to your school by the Greater Fayette Republican Women’s Club in affiliation with the National Federation of Republican Women’s Barbara Bush Literacy Committee.  The idea for the project came from Annie Plummer, who lived in Savannah, Georgia.   Annie knew how hard it was to get a job without an education because she had not gone above the sixth grade.  She thought about ways to get her children and the children of her neighborhood interested in school.  With the little extra money that she had, she began buying dictionaries and handing them out to the children in her neighborhood.  President George W. Bush has said, "All children in America will learn, and no child will be left behind."  We are hoping through the donation of these dictionaries by our organization that we will add meaning to his words.  These dictionaries are not only elementary appropriate, but have information that can be used throughout a student’s school career.

We also donated a dictionary to each of the four public libraries in Fayette County.  Our members and friends purchased dictionaries for their own children and grandchildren and for gifts.  It was an outstanding community project!

Judges? …who to vote for?  Just leave it blank?   Think again.

Our United States Constitution, as established by the Founding Fathers, stipulates that Amendments to that document must have two-thirds of both Houses and three-fourths of the States ratify the proposals to become the law of the land.  Today, however, modern activists say that it only takes five on the bench of the Supreme Court to effect that change.  Judges are not legislators.  The legitimacy of their decisions, particularly those decisions that overturn legislative judgments, depends entirely upon the truth of the judicial claim that the court was authorized by the law to settle.  Decisions in which the courts usurp the authority of the people are not merely incorrect; they themselves are unconstitutional.  Unfortunately, such decisions are growing in their number and the range of topics they cover. A crisis is at hand, and solutions must be found.

Should courts be granted the power to invalidate legislation in the name of the Constitution?  Chief Justice John Marshall’s opinion in the 1803 case of Marbury v. Madison, Thomas Jefferson warned that judicial review would lead to a form of despotism.  The power of judicial review is nowhere mentioned in the Constitution.  The courts themselves have claimed that power based on inferences of the nature of the judicial office.

With the stroke of a pen, the Supreme Court of the United States effectively rejected one of the most fundamental constitutional freedoms guaranteed to all citizens: our right to own property.  This is nothing more than a re-writing of the Constitution that literally ignores the Fifth Amendment and dozens of legal precedents through the ages.

 Are Georgia justices substituting their judgment for that of the legislature?  In Georgia, the people are empowered to participate in judicial selection directly, so it essential that these broad issues of judicial philosophy are understood. Working tirelessly for the election of good legislators can be nullified by judicial malpractice.   Come and hear David Burge, attorney, member of the Federalist Society and Fulton County Republican, help us better understand how to cast our vote for judges in the upcoming election.
