‘President’s Message’

Empowering, Educating, and Electing

The Georgia Federation of Republican Women and local clubs throughout the state are about . . . Empowering, Educating, and Electing, or what I call the “3 Es.”

GFRW Empowers Republican Women by informing them of the Principles of the Republican Party which are:

As Republicans, we believe in upholding the U.S. Constitution, fiscal responsibility, and accountability in all levels of government, as well as strong family values. We further believe . . .

  •  The source of our Nation’s strength is in the right of the    individual to achieve their best.
  •  Government exists to protect the freedom of opportunity for its citizens where individuals’ creative abilities can flourish.
  •  Government activities should be limited to those critical functions that people cannot perform for themselves, such as our infrastructure, security, and national defense.
  •  The most effective government is government closest to the people.
  •  Equal rights, justice, and opportunity belong to all American citizens, regardless of race, creed, age, sex or national origin.
  •  We are a Nation based on the rule of law, and it is the responsibility of everyone to respect these laws.
  •  Government is accountable for maintaining sound financial policies and a responsible economy.
  •  Only a strong America can remain a free America. It is essential to be in the position to negotiate for world peace from a posture of a strong national defense.
  • We believe quality education is vital to individual success and to   a successful, economically competitive America.

We Empower Republican Women by sharing with them accurate political facts and what is taking place in local, state, and federal governments.

We Empower women through local club meetings — where the grass roots begin. By growing clubs and memberships, we provide Republican Women with the tools to Educate others about Republican Principles.

GFRW Empowers Republican Women through Education and training.  As a member of a local club, you automatically become a member of the National Federation of Republican Women and the Georgia Federation of Republican Women. Through NFRW, you receive a magazine that informs you on the issues, and emails about National issues and membership growth. The NFRW website alone is a wealth of information on Educating our Republican women to Empower them to Educate others about our Republican Principles, www.nfrw.org.

GFRW also Educates to Empower by our magazine VOICES.  VOICES Magazine is nationally recognized for its informative articles. Numerous Republican organizations and Republican clubs throughout the country are on the email list to receive it. You can also find it by going to the GFRW website – www.gfrw.org.

Upon Empowering Republican Women, we are then able to Educate others about the Republican philosophy through political events, forums, outreach, newspaper, and brochures.  NFRW and GFRW also provide campaign schools for training to run a political campaign.

Through Empowerment and Education we are able to Elect good Republican men and women to office. This process of Empowering, Educating, and Electing enables us to obtain and maintain the Republican Principles.

Because GFRW and local clubs are so good at Empowering, Educating, and Electing through grassroots efforts, elected Republican officials turn to us for support.

We must keep up the good work and carry our “3 Es” into this election year of 2012.  Keep Republicans in office and get Democrats out of office, particularly the one sitting in the White House.

I also want to thank all the women who helped produce this VOICES Magazine and to Sue Everhart for her guidance in the Georgia GOP.

Thank you for Empowering, Educating, and Electing Republicans.

Rose Wing
President of GFRW

Get Informed and Get Involved

The best voter is an educated and informed voter. First, I want to thank the staff of VOICES for writing this special edition on the Republican Presidential Candidates. It is wonderful. If you do not agree with everything that is said, that is fine because the articles are to make you think, to stimulate your mind toward this election year and lead you to have conversation. It is not until you educate yourself on candidates, learn issues and learn where candidates stand on issues that you can make an educated decision. The Georgia debate will be on March 1 and the Presidential Primary on March 6. Learn more about each candidate and continue to watch debates between now and March 6.

After the Republican Party has a Presidential nominee, all of us as Republicans need to get behind him and get actively involved in the Presidential race. Our choice for President may not have been your original choice. For sure, Obama is none of our choices. Your future, our children’s future and our grandchildren’s future depend on getting Obama out of office.

I look forward to being President of GFRW this year and working with you during this election year. I am excited about seeing you on February 24 and 25 at the Winter Board Meeting in Alpharetta, Georgia at the Marriott. Non-Board members are invited and I encourage you to come. We are having training sessions on leadership, social media and Presidents training. In addition, we are having elected officials, candidates, special speakers, like Sue Everhart, fun social events and possibly surprise guests. Our young Republican Women are invited, as well, as we have a special social for you. Look forward to seeing you on February 24-25.

Get informed and get involved,

Rose Wing

A Closing

My Dear Friends,

As this year draws to a close, I want to take a moment to thank you all for your dedication to this Country, State and our precious Liberty. The coming year brings a pivotal election: pitting our Founding Principles against the enslaving government of the current administration.

I am grateful that you, like the Founders are willing to embrace the challenge and expend your energy to fight the onslaught of tyranny. We are no different than our predecessors seeking to preserve liberty for their children and future. We can do no less. We need to remind ourselves of those men who crossed the treacherous, ice infested Delaware on that frigid Christmas Eve. They did not think of their safety or comfort. Some walked barefoot on the icy road. They did not think of their empty stomachs. They only thought of victory.

The odds were impossible, but due to their unselfish persistence and the aid of the Almighty they were victorious. May we follow their resolve.

I appreciate all that you have done and will do in this coming year. Thank you for your friendship and the comradery we have shared. You are an incredible group of women. It has been a joy to serve alongside you.

I look forward to seeing you again soon. Please let me know if there is ever anything that I can do for you, it will be my pleasure. I pray that each of you will continue to walk in a manner worthy of your calling. May God continue to bless these United States of America.

Love to you all,

Suzi

Georgia Federation of Republican Women

P.S. In the words of Winston, “Never, never, never give up”!

Welcome

In 2010 Republican Women worked tirelessly to elect principled, conservative candidates and it paid off! The Georgia Federation of Republican Women made over 250,000 phone calls for Republican candidates statewide and conducted door-to-door canvassing in all 13 Congressional Districts. Our hard work paid off but those successes are now in the rearview mirror. We have a serious task before us if we are to meet the challenges set before us. One of the Federation’s primary objectives is to promote an informed electorate.

The Party must get out the vote, but through education we in the Federation can create conservatives who will be turned out when it is time to vote. Through our efforts to reach every District and County through Republican Women’s groups and satellite groups we can educate our neighbors now efforts. We have broken new ground and mobilized new constituencies. We have new groups that have incorporated innovative ideas such as virtual groups that employ technology to reach those who either cannot attend traditional meetings due to their jobs or due to their responsibilities at home. We have young women who are using their keen minds to teach their friends that the values they hold dear are actually Republican values based on liberty and self- governance.

Our ability to successfully advance conservative solutions across the spectrum of public policy—from spending and entitlement reform, healthcare, national defense and homeland security cannot solely be debated in the halls of Congress but must be systematically taught to our children and our neighbors. Only by engaging, educating and mobilizing a larger majority of Georgia’s women can we hope to be successful in this endeavor.

This effort is about two legacies. What kind of State and Country do we want to leave our children and grandchildren? What kind of leadership do we want to leave Georgia and the nation? We cannot be satisfied to simply leave a legacy of legislative victories, as important as they are. We cannot rely on our current “area of influence” to be broad enough to shape the public policies of the future and protect our Foundations. We MUST give the next generation a legacy of leadership of purpose and theMEANS to win. Right now our Country is in the battle of its life and we in the Federation are on the front lines. We want an America that is animated by its first principles.

  • An America where freedom, opportunity, prosperity and civil society flourish;
  • An America where PEOPLE, not government are empowered;
  • An America where hard work is rewarded, not ravaged by taxes;
  • An America that is strong and safe and protects its people from her enemies;
  • An America where religious freedom and timeless values are protected;
  • An America whose educational system is again the standard of the world; AND
  • An America where its borders are secure and its people are united.

It will take innovation, it will take planning and it will take brainpower—all things our GFRW team is prepared and equipped to do. Our team includes every member, we must all do our part and we can use every one of you in every county.

I believe institutionally we are embarking on a campaign to give our children and grandchildren a better America—one where freedom, opportunity, prosperity and civil society flourish.

So today, on behalf of those who have worked so hard for decades I am asking for your support and your partnership with the Georgia Federation of Republican Women as we move forward to call to arms, every woman, in every part of this great state embark with us in this noble cause.

May God continue to Bless these United States of America!

Suzi Voyles, President
Georgia Federation of Republican Women
